  1. My donation is tax-deductible?

    TREATS is a Registered Charity in Hong Kong(Ref no. #91/1637 under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordiance). For donation of $100 or above is tax-deductible. The donation receipt will be issued by the end of every financial year, usually in April.


  2. Can I donate in name of my family members or friends?

    Yes. In fact, more and more people donate in name of their family members. Some parents are now educating their children about “Giving” and they will donate in name of their children name.


  3. How can I know how is my donation be used?

    In order to increase the accountability and transparency of our work, the recent news and development would be updated at our website, E-newsletter regularly. Besides, 2 issues of newsletters and annual report with auditor’s report will be published annually.

    TREATS operates under the guidance of an Executive Committee. Members include professionals from different sectors of the community, such as academics, professional working for the special needs children, businessmen, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. This make-up of the Committee can bring different perspectives to TREATS so to respond to social needs more effectively and make the best use of every dollar of donation. TREATS is also supported by complimentary auditing services from the KPMG.

  4. How your donation helps the underprivileged children?

    We received overwhelming of requests for programmes and services from schools and organizations. Due to the limited resources, we have to turn down some of their applications. Therefore, the social needs and demands for our services are tremendous. With your donation, we will able to outreach our services to a wider community and more children and families would be benefited.

    $5 per day ($150 per Month)
    Each Year: Giving chance to 412 children joining Integration Education Programme for Schools, to learn acceptance and eliminate discrimination

    $10 per day ($300 Per Month)
    Each Year: Giving chance to 65 children with special needs joining 1-dayOutdoor Experiential Integration Progamme, giving them a chance to interact, participate and share the social life with typical children.

    $16.6 per day ($500 Per Month)
    Each year: Giving chance to 167 children with moderate mentally challenge participating in the community and experiencing actual life. They are able to interact and communicate with the typical children which can facilitate their personal growth and social skills.

    With a vision to give every child the chance to live and participate in an accepting and integrated society, our programmes reached over 90,000 children, young people and families have been benefited from our programmes in 2009/2010.

     

  5. How is the existing situation of children integration in Hong Kong?

    We believe every child has the right to participate, develop, being accepted and respect. However, there are 1/3 children facing isolation and discrimination. As a well-developed international city, the need for children development in Hong Kong is emerging.

    We believe integration is a commitment to our next generation, as it is about the nurturing the attitude of acceptance, appreciation and equal participation. Those attitudes are the basic elements for building an integrated and inclusive society for our children.


  6. What is TREATS funding source and funding allocation?

    TREATS receives no government funding and our services fully relied on donations from individuals, corporations and funding bodies. Nearly 50% of our funding comes from the Community Chest and Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The rest of operation funding relied on the general public. Therefore, your donation and support meant a lot to us and make a difference to the children integration services in Hong Kong.

  7. Why TREATS needs to raise fund publicly?

    In Hong Kong, most of the services are remedial measure and treatment-oriented. For those services which focusing on the children integration and integration education programme are not common in Hong Kong.

    In light of that, even without any government subvention, TREATS committed to develop and provide different kind of integration programme and education programme. Without the government subvention, TREATS can respond to the social needs in a more flexible and effective manners.

    As mentioned above, nearly 50% of our funding comes from the Community Chest and Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The rest of operation funding relied on the general public. Therefore, your donation and support meant a lot to us and make a difference to the children integration services in Hong Kong.


  8. What is the governance of TREATS operations and finance matters?

    TREATS is a proactive and organized charity with high degree of accountability and transparency. TREATS operates under the guidance of an Executive Committee. Members include professionals from different sectors of the community, such as academics, professional working for the special needs children, businessmen, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. This make-up of the Committee can bring different perspectives to TREATS so to respond to social needs more effectively. TREATS is also supported by complimentary auditing services from the KPMG.

    The core duties of Executive Committee are (1) Regularly scheduled appraisals of the CEO's performance (2) Board approval of the budget (3) Supervision of fund raising practices (4) Establishment of a conflict of interest policy (5) Establishment of accounting procedures sufficient to safeguard charity finances
