Introduction

The workshop series explores different themes and topics on social inclusion for secondary school students, in forms of experiential activities, discussion, daily life examples and small class interaction, aiming to enhance students' awareness, sensitivity, knowledge and supportive behaviors for building an inclusive campus and helping the  disadvantaged groups in Hong Kong. They are encouraged to review and reflect their values and attitudes and their role in society.

Programme

Combat Discrimination and Prejudice Series

Dare to be different
[IESS01]

Students will learn about influences and consequences of peer pressure and how to stay firm and confident to say no to discrimination, exclusion or bullying acts at school. Hence, they are also equipped skills and techniques to voice out their concerns and stand up for the underprivileged ones.

Combat Discrimination and Prejudice Series

Stay Cool & Be yourself
[IESS02]

This workshop helps students to experience the impacts of stereotypes on interpersonal relationship through different experiential activities. Students also learn how to break their inherent framework, get along with others and to explore new possibilities of staying Cool but not losing yourself identity.

Equal Participation Series

An Inclusive Hong Kong? from living to entertainment
[IESS03]

Is Hong Kong an inclusive city? How's accessible is Hong Kong and the acceptance level towards people with different abilities? Students will learn about Hong Kong "barrier-free" situation through case study, discussions and reflections and how they can make HK a better living city, 

Equal Participation Series

Invisible Barriers
[IESS04]

As a cosmopolitan city, we may have top notch barrier free facilities but does it mean inclusion? Researches showed that invisible social barriers are the real factors on exclusion. Student will learn about types of invisible social barriers and the ways to tackle it in this workshop. 

Children Rights and Me Series

Rights For Everyone
[IESS05]*

Students will identify, experience and discuss different unfairness social issues in the world and the reasons for rights protection. By case discussion and activities, they will learn about the importance children's rights in everyday life and their role to protect everyone's basic rights as a global citizen.

Skills Training Series

360° barrier-free communication
[IESS06]

Effective communications promote understanding and breaking down barriers. This workshop equips students to learn about different communication skills and the importance of effective communication to different people.
